Cardiovascular manifestations

• coronary vasculitis possibly transient

• coronary dilatation, aneurysm or thrombosis

  (20 -25% if untreated; 2-4 % if therapy)
  

• myocarditis ( > 50 %)

• valvulitis (1 %)

• pericardial effusion

• systemic artery aneurysms

Cardiac complications are the major cause of Kawasaki mortality and morbidity. Appropriate treatment decreases significantly the incidence of such cardiopathy from 20 to 4% of cases.
